Red Deer players named to 2027 Team Alberta U16 male shortlist: A promising development in youth hockey
The 2027 Canada Winter Games are fast approaching, and the excitement is palpable as five players from the U15 AAA Red Deer Rebels have been shortlisted for Team Alberta U16. Madden Daneault, Nate Hodge, Jevin Morrison, Luke Pierson, and Lucas Seidel have been selected for their exceptional performance during the Team Alberta scouting process, past programs, and the recent Under-16 Summer Camp in Red Deer. The camp, which invited 80 players, featured intense on-ice sessions, off-ice training, and classroom sessions, showcasing the players' versatility and potential.
The selection process was rigorous, with players evaluated based on their overall performance. Four of the five players were recently drafted in the 2026 Western Hockey League Draft, with Daneault going first overall to the Kelowna Rockets and Morrison fifth overall to the Wenatchee Wild. Pierson and Seidel were also drafted, with Pierson going in Round 3 to the Wenatchee Wild and Seidel in Round 8 to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
